Chortle Student Comedy Award winner to perform in Wells
The stand-up comedy night in the heart of Wells, Silly Sausage, has bagged a rare visit from an award-winning comic - Riordan DJ.
Promoter and MC Heather Bryson-Banks said: "I've been trying to book this young man for ages.
"I saw him live last year, and was blown away. I couldn't believe he was a real life young trainee doctor working in Bristol.
"Winning the prestigious Chortle Student Comedy Award, is a huge deal. Others who've won include TV's Joe Lycett, Phil Wang, Rhod Ghilbert, Josie Long and James Acaster.
"The only reason Riordan is not doing TV panel shows and sell out tours, is that he's busy learning to save lives."
Riordan DJ is a 23-year-old medical student from Devon who began performing stand up in 2016.
He won the prestigious Chortle Student Comedy Award at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2017 and was nominated for the Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year 2019.
Silly Sausage Comedy Night is on Saturday March 14, 7.30pm for 8pm start at The Venue, South Street, Wells. Tickets are £10.
Opening the night is another rising star of the South West, Jessie Nixon. She is a confident flame-haired firecracker, SYTYF semi finalist 2018, Funny Women "One to watch" 2019 and Amused Moose semi finalist 2020.
Supporting acts include breakthrough character acts crazy music teacher Rosemary Crackers and creepy Richard Clock.
Also on the bill is Antoinette Morris "whose alter ego Karen is always getting her into trouble" and Jack Davey "whose anecdotes denote from a life lived with complete naivety and a distinct lack of common sense."
The regular event often sells out, so it's best to buy tickets in advance from here.
