Cheers to success! Fenny Castle Vineyard's sparkling rosé strikes gold at WineGB Awards 2023
Fenny Castle Vineyard in Wells has been honoured with a prestigious Gold medal at the WineGB Awards 2023, recognising the excellence of their Fenny Castle Sparkling Rosé. The annual awards celebrated exceptional wines from producers across England and Wales, with Fenny Castle Vineyard standing out among the impressive entries.
James Cumming, the owner of Fenny Castle, expressed his appreciation, stating, "Being a part of the English wine industry during this exciting time is truly gratifying. As a small producer in Somerset, we are delighted to have been awarded a gold medal for our Fenny Castle Sparkling Rosé 2019 in the 2023 WineGB Awards."
The WineGB Awards experienced a significant increase in participation this year, with over 100 producers from 27 counties, including 18 newcomers.
Medals were distributed among sparkling and still wines, reflecting the growth and quality of still wine production in the UK.
Susie Barrie MW, Co-Chair of the Judges, shared her enthusiasm, stating, "We were delighted with the quality of wines we tasted this year. The sparkling wines continue to impress, and we are witnessing notable progress in the other categories, particularly the still wines, showcasing the potential for the future. Congratulations to all the deserving medal winners, ranging from well-established wineries to emerging ones."
The WineGB Awards Trophy Ceremony & Lunch, scheduled for Friday, July 7 in London, will unveil the Trophy winners, including the highly anticipated Supreme Champion, awarded to the Wine of the Year. This year's event is co-sponsored by Bevica, a leading business management technology and software solution for the wine industry.
Claudio Martell, Bevica Product Director, congratulated all the winners and highlighted the growth and flourishing nature of the wine industry in Great Britain. The WineGB Trophy winners will also be featured at WineGB's Annual Trade & Press Tasting on Tuesday, September 5 at Battersea Arts Centre in London.
