Bishop’s Palace Christmas market returns with 70 traders and new food marquee
By Laura Linham 9th Oct 2026
Around 70 local makers, craftspeople and food producers will take over the Bishop's Palace when its Christmas Artisan Market returns next month.
The two-day event runs from 10am to 4pm on Saturday, 14 November, and Sunday, 15 November, with stalls selling handmade gifts throughout the Palace.
A dedicated food and drink marquee is new for 2026, bringing together producers selling cheeses, meats, cakes, chocolates, preserves and drinks.
Elsewhere, shoppers will find ceramics, silver jewellery, stained glass, prints, wooden toys and Christmas garlands, with opportunities to meet the people behind the products.
Wells City Band will perform on Saturday from noon until 2pm. On Sunday, the local Rock Choir will provide music from 11am.
The market also raises money for the Palace Trust, the charity responsible for looking after the historic buildings, gardens and collections. It receives no statutory funding and uses income from visits and events to support that work.
Adult admission costs £9 and children's tickets are £5. Tickets include access to the market, Palace and its 14 acres of gardens.
Reduced admission of £7.50 is available from 2pm. Organisers recommend an afternoon visit for anyone hoping to avoid the busiest period, which is usually between 11am and 1pm.
Tickets and further details are available on the Bishop's Palace website.
