The final tally raised at Binegar's first Fancy Dress Bonker's Barrow Run has been revealed.

The afternoon was a great success with 16 teams entered for this madcap run around the village, which raised money for the Mendip School that is based on the Bath and West Showground near Shepton Mallet.

Hosted at the Horse and Jockey pub, the teams ran round the village and received refreshments along the way at the "Pit / Port Stop!!!" at Dalleston before returning to the pub for prize giving.

The day then continued with live music performed by Open Road. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the event and teams are already signed up for 2020 and thinking of their fancy dress themes.

To date the monies raised for the school stand at £675 with more to come in.

The event was organised by Binegar and Gurney Slade Social FUNdraisers which was formed just over a year ago.

Steve Rawlings for the organisation said: "We're members of the village and our aim is to raise funds for the village, and local charities and good causes.

"Our ethos is to put on events that people enjoy with the emphasis on fun and bringing the community together.

"We've also done things like dig around the outside of the church and infilled with scalpings to stop the damp proof course being breached and this summer we striped back the village hall floor and then re varnished it."
