An ambulance full of vital medical supplies for the people of Ukraine set off from Chilcompton this week.

It is the second ambulance that has left from Mendip Medical, but the efforts to collect the much-needed supplies have not stopped.

The ambulance and medical service company is still asking for donations of medical supplies – especially for children – that they will take to London next week to be transported on to where they are needed most.

Owner of Mendip Medical, Dave Sprinks, said, "We need nappies, Calpol, Sudocrem, baby food and baby milk. Also women's sanitary products. We can take bandages and anything like that too – someone has even given us some wheelchairs. But please – no clothing, or out of date food.

"You would be surprised at how much out of date food we have been given – and we've just had to throw it away.

"We can't take prescription medication either – it causes problems at the borders."

Anyone who would like to help, can bring donations to Mendip Medical, The Hayloft, Manor Farm, Church Lane, Chilcompton BA3 4HP by lunchtime on Monday (May 23).

Please note, that donations cannot be accepted over the weekend as the offices are closed.
