Motorists in Wells are set to face disruption due to a temporary road closure on St Thomas Street for essential maintenance by Wessex Water.

The closure is scheduled to last for three days, from 29 July to 31 July, operating around the clock.

The closure, which spans from the junction with Tor Street northeast for 31 metres, is necessary for Wessex Water to replace a manhole chamber.

A spokesperson for Somerset Council, said: "We understand that road closures can be inconvenient, but this work is essential to maintain our infrastructure. We appreciate the public's patience and cooperation during this period."

Motorists are urged to follow the diversion route through Tor Street, Wells Road, Pike Hill, Rectory Road, Waterloo Road, Bath Road, Long Hill, Old Frome Road, and back onto St Thomas Street. Planning journeys in advance is recommended to avoid delays.

Residents and local businesses with concerns can contact Wessex Water directly at 0345 600 4600, quoting reference number ttro907193E.
