If you enjoy settling down on Christmas Eve to the heavenly sound of Carols from King's, you'll love 'Christmas with Continuum' at St Cuthbert's Church, Wells, on the evening of 16th December.

Continuum is a young professional choir founded in 2018 by ex-Wells Cathedral Choral Scholar Harry Guthrie, made up of former choral scholars from Trinity College and St John's College, Cambridge. With years of sublime singing under their belts, the evening's performance will be filled with beautiful traditional music to put you well and truly in the mood for the festive season.  

23-year-old Harry conducts Continuum and he's an exciting musical talent with a growing reputation on the conducting scene. He graduated from Trinity College Cambridge earlier this year where, alongside his academic studies, he was a Choral Scholar and studied conducting with world-renowned choral conductor Stephen Layton.

Harry began his musical career at a very early age; aged 9 he joined the trebles in his school's Chapel Choir and, just a year later, he was picked to sing with the National Youth Choir of Great Britain where he performed throughout his school years. He then went on to spend a year as a Choral Scholar at Wells Cathedral before taking up his musical studies at Trinity College Cambridge. Along the way, he's performed in Katherine Jenkins' backing band at the Royal Albert Hall and sung alongside Pixie Lott for a massed choir performance during BBC One's Festival of Remembrance.

Yet it was a chance discovery that kindled Harry's love of conducting. Whilst rehearsing for a choral concert, the conductor was delayed and Harry, aged just 16, was invited to fill in. The moment he stood in front of the singers, he knew instantly that conducting was his vocation and he's been hooked ever since. 

Harry says, "I'm so excited to be bringing my choir Continuum to perform in Wells, to the place where I have such happy memories of singing in the glorious surroundings of Wells Cathedral. I can't wait to share our musical offering for the Christmas season!"
